Lisa S lives just outside of San Diego in Southern California. Her scrip program has enjoyed terrific growth with ShopWithScrip.com, so we asked her to share her story. Here’s Lisa’s recipe for success.
When Lisa S. took over the Scrip program at her school in Southern California, it was doing well but she thought it could do better. She was right. With the help of ShopWithScrip.com, Lisa’s hard work has boosted their scrip program to a 35% sales growth in eighteen months. Lisa attributes her success to ShopWithScrip.com and
getting the word out to the participating scrip families about ShopWithScrip benefits to them as families and to the school.
“Each weekend, I send a school-wide email reminding them that if they place their order at SWS over the weekend, they’ll get their special order items along with their regular inventory items.” Lisa explains.
According to Lisa, one of the best features of ShopWithScrip.com is the PrestoPay™ online payment service. Families can enroll in the secure payment service by linking their ShopWithScrip account to their personal checking account. Payments for personal scrip orders are electronically transferred from the family account to Lisa’s scrip program account, and ShopWithScrip.com reconciles everything.
ShopWithScrip is such a
valuable tool, Lisa urges
nearby scrip coordinators
to use the program, too.
Lisa is a firm believer in the power of PrestoPay™. To encourage families to use PrestoPay™ she held a raffle contest for a month to promote Great Lakes Scrip Center’s PrestoPay™ and reloadable gift cards, options available through ShopWithScrip. The prize was $50 in scrip each of the four weeks. “Starting a SWS account was worth one ticket, placing an order on SWS was worth another, using PrestoPay was worth another ticket, and reloading a card was worth another ticket.”
She has held similar contests to promote just PrestoPay, and emails those who place orders for reloadable cards for the first time offering to help them register their card and show them how to reload it.
Lisa likes ShopWithScrip.com because it reminds families there are hundreds of gift cards available to order, and families can easily find exactly what they’re looking for. Plus, once families are exposed to PrestoPay™ they appreciate the convenience of paying online.
Lisa finds on-hand stock
helps attract orders.
In addition to online orders, Lisa’s school and the affiliated church have a Cash-and-Carry program. “We maintain a regular inventory of cards that our families can buy immediately and we sell these in our church office, at church over the weekend, and we have a regular ‘processing day’ where we fill orders and send the in-stock items home the same day”, explains Lisa.
Lisa’s advice to others who wish to achieve her success for their own scrip programs would be to just keep reminding families of the benefits of ShopWithScrip.
“We constantly stuff the PrestoPay and Reload 3-up flyers into our purchasers’ weekly envelopes and send constant reminders via email and the school newspaper.”
Lisa has shown us that there is always room for improvement in any scrip program and the key is communication. People need to be constantly reminded of the different products available to them. They need to have a fire lit under them that is fed on a regular basis so it doesn’t smolder and go out.
Follow Lisa’s example, and your organization can grow and prosper too!
