Important Facts You Need To Know About Visa Reward Cards

• Subject to applicable law, beginning 6 months after the date your Rewards Card was purchased by Great Lakes Scrip Center, a monthly service fee of $3.00 will be deducted from your remaining balance.
• To ensure authorized use of your Rewards Card, be sure to sign the back before using.
• Always know the balance of your card and when ready to make your purchase, tell the cashier the amount you would like applied to your Visa Rewards Card. Always press the CREDIT button. If you press DEBIT your transaction will be declined. The balance will then need to be paid with the second payment method.
• If you decide to return merchandise purchased with your Visa Rewards Card, you may be asked to present the same card to process that return. Be sure to hold onto your purchase receipts and your card, even after the balance is depleted.
• When using your Visa Rewards Card somewhere that a tip may be appropriate, your transaction may be authorized for an additional 20% above your total bill. Be sure that the balance on your card is sufficient to cover the cost of the bill plus the tip added. If not, the transaction will be declined.
• Gas stations: You will need to present your card to the attendant inside the station. The Visa card will not work at the pump.
• For online or phone orders, you will need to register your card at www.prepaidrewardscenter.com. When you make an online or phone purchase, the name, address, and phone number you use will need to be exactly the same as the information you provided when registering your card. If the information is different, the transaction may be declined.
• The Visa Rewards Card is not a credit, charge or debit card.
  

Why It’s Critical To Know Your Gift Card Balance

If you wish to use your Visa Rewards Card to purchase an item for more than the available funds, many national merchants - but not all - will accept your gift card and automatically offer you the opportunity use another form of payment to pay the balance of the final purchase price. This is called a "split tender" transaction because you would be splitting the final transaction amount between your gift card and another form of payment.

If you're not sure of the merchant's policy regarding a "split tender" transaction, it's critical to know the exact balance of your Visa Rewards Card. You can check the amount of funds available on your gift card by visiting www.prepaidrewardscenter.com or calling Visa Prepaid Center toll free within the United States at 1-866-578-0117, which is the telephone number printed on the back of your Visa Rewards Card.

Once you know your balance, you MUST ask the merchant if two forms of payment will be accepted for the purchase you wish to make. If the merchant agrees, first request that the merchant place a specific dollar amount on the other form of payment (e.g., the final transaction amount less the balance of funds available on your Rewards Card), and then use your Rewards Card to pay the remaining balance. Some retailers, particularly department stores, will only allow a "split tender" transaction if the second form of payment is cash or check. Internet and most mail order merchants do not permit "split tender" transactions. We do not guarantee that the merchant will accept two forms of payment, such as two gift cards.

On June 17, 2009, Eddie Bauer filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. The company has received court approval to maintain operations and to continue to honor gift cards while in bankruptcy. In conjunction with the bankruptcy filing, Eddie Bauer entered into an agreement to sell the firm's assets to CCMP Capital Advisors. CCMP intends to continue to operate Eddie Bauer and to keep the majority of stores open. However, the sale of Eddie Bauer is subject to bankruptcy court approval and an auction process, which is expected to be completed in 60 days or less. Eddie Bauer has been a long time supporter of scrip fundraising, and we hope they are able to successfully emerge from bankruptcy.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the auction process, Great Lakes Scrip Center recommends that you advise your families to use any Eddie Bauer gift cards as soon as possible. As soon as our supplies are depleted, we will suspend the sale of their gift cards until the sale is completed. Great Lakes Scrip Center will not accept returns of Eddie Bauer gift cards.

Yesterday, KB Toys announced they have filed for bankruptcy and are closing all of their stores. Consequently, we are no longer offering their gift cards.

The KB Toys Gift Cards are not returnable, so in light of this news, Great Lakes Scrip Center urges our customers to use their gift cards as soon as possible. If any gift cards have been purchased to give as gifts, we highly recommend that they be used to purchase a gift instead - again, as soon as possible.

In late November, we advised our customers that Shaw's Supermarket / Star Market gift cards were being phased out and the Albertson's $25 and $100 gift cards could be used in their place. The wording on the back of the Albertson's gift card regarding redemption was confusing, so we once again will stock Shaw's gift cards until Albertsons can provide us with revised cards.

In mid-October, JCPenney announced the "Early Bird Shopping Incentive", which rewards three lucky non-profit organizations for their purchases of JCPenney Gift Cards. If you’re like most GLSC customers, your scrip program volume doubles, triples or even quadruples during the holiday season. That means our holiday volume surges as well, and we are challenged to assemble many more orders with timely delivery and minimal backorders.

Every year we plan and prepare for the surge with extra staff and inventory. Unfortunately, no matter how much staff and hours we add, we simply cannot process your orders during the holiday season as quickly as we can the rest of the year.

To help you plan, we've carefully projected our order volume and can guarantee delivery dates based on the calendar below. Please keep in mind these schedules represent the maximum amount of time we may need to turnaround your order during the busiest periods. Whenever possible, we will deliver your orders ahead of this schedule. However, we urge you to plan for the turnaround schedules listed below, and we will do our best to get your orders to you ahead of schedule:

The calendar areas in white will be subject to our normal turnaround schedule - orders placed by 1pm Eastern Time will be scheduled to leave our offices the following business day. So on the white dates, an order placed by 1pm on Monday would be scheduled to leave our offices on Tuesday. So if you chose overnight delivery, you would receive your package on Wednesday.

The yellow calendar areas are two day turnaround. For example, an order placed before 1pm Eastern Time on Monday, December 1, will be scheduled to leave our offices no later than Wednesday, for overnight delivery on Thursday, December 4.

Please keep in mind that this schedule is a "worst case" scenario and of course, we will always ship your order ahead of schedule if possible. But to ensure that you have the scrip you need to keep your programs running smoothly, we would like you to plan ahead and give us (and yourselves) a little extra time this holiday season. In addition, here are some other facts you should keep in mind as you plan your holiday schedule:

• Urge your families to order early - The sooner in the season they order for holiday gift-giving, the better we are able to ensure they will have what they need.
• Order early in the day - Our phone lines and web site can have literally thousands of customers attempting to get in an order just before the 1pm deadline. Avoid the crowds and order early in the day.
• Use glscrip.com to order and check order status - GLSC continually adds to our bandwidth so you can order faster, earlier and get the status of your order much easier online than you can by phone.

Why It’s Critical To Know Your Gift Card Balance
If you wish to use your Gift Card to purchase an item for more than the Available Funds, many national merchants – but not all – will accept your gift card and automatically offer you the opportunity use another form of payment to pay the balance of the final purchase price.

This is called a "split tender" transaction because you would be splitting the final transaction amount between your Gift Card and another form of payment.

If you’re not sure of the merchant’s policy regarding a "split tender" transaction, it’s critical to know the exact balance of your American Express Gift Card. The introduction of corporate Little Caesars gift cards was dependent on the simultaneous rollout of gift card processing equipment in thousands of Little Caesars stores nationwide. Almost all Little Caesars stores are able to accept the corporate gift card. However, we have received a handful of reports where stores are not able to accept the cards.

To avoid confusion for your families, we advise our customers to contact their nearby Little Caesars stores to confirm they are able to redeem the new corporate Little Caesars gift cards before purchasing from Great Lakes Scrip Center.

Please advise your member families that TCBY gift certificate booklets will be discontinued once current inventories are depleted. A handful of TCBY $5 booklets are still available and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. All TCBY sales are final with no returns or exchanges.

If you liked card reload before, you'll really like the new improvement we've made to the reload process: Now, if your families place card reload only orders and they pay with PrestoPay™, we will automatically process the order overnight with no effort on your part.

That's right, GLSC will bill the customer, reload the card, handle all the paperwork, place the appropriate deposit in your organization bank account, and leave a documentation trail on shopwithscrip.com and glscrip.com for your reference.

With our original launch of reloadable cards, the activation process began when the coordinator released the order. For example, if a family placed a card reload on Monday afternoon, and the coordinator didn't release the order and import it into glscrip.com until Thursday morning, the card wouldn't be reloaded until Friday. While that was more convenient than waiting for a new physical card, it still wasn't fast enough as far as GLSC was concerned.

Here's how the new system works: When a family places an order for a reloaded card only (with no other physical gift cards on the order), and pays with PrestoPay, the reload will take place no later than the next business day. Generally speaking, any "reload only" order placed before 3pm Eastern Time will be activated by the next business day.

There are just a few simple qualifications for "overnight reload":

1. The gift card must be a currently available reload card - and it must be a card purchased from GLSC .  We're adding new retailers to reload all the time. Reloads are currently available from Starbucks, The Gap and CVS/pharmacy.
2. The gift card must be registered at shopwithscrip.com - it takes just seconds to register a card, and you can easily register the card just before you purchase a reload.
3. You must pay with PrestoPay™ - Our online payment system allows us to speed up the activation process. 
4. The family order must be for reloads only - if the family combines a reload order with a physical card order, the reload process won't begin until the coordinator releases the physical card order, too.  Tip: if a family is placing an order for multiple cards, and they also want to quickly reload a card, have them place a separate order for the card reload. 
5. The actual time of reload depends on the individual card activator and the exact time of day the customer places the order.

We have recently learned that Sheetz has temporarily run out of $100 gift cards. As a result, we will temporarily offer a Sheetz $50 gift card until the $100s are back in stock.

The $25 denominations are unaffected by this change and are still readily available.

Great Lakes Scrip Center has recently learned that Mrs Field's Cookie Company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. A Chapter 11 filing gives a financially-troubled company court protection while it reorganizes its finances - in most cases a large number of stores will remain open while other less profitable stores are closed during the restructuring.

According to Mrs. Field's officials, the company is "committed to supporting our franchisees as they continue to serve our customers. This Restructuring will allow us to become a stronger company and to further improve our relationships with our franchisees and customers."

The timing of Mrs. Field's announcement comes when we have plenty of Mrs. Fields on hand. We would like to reduce our inventory of Mrs. Field's Cookies, and we are offering this inventory on a 50% bonus clearance sale. GLSC offers Mrs. Field's certificates in $5 denominations.

If you have Mrs. Field's locations near you, this is an excellent opportunity to earn a significant bonus as long as you can use the certificates in the near future. Earlier we advised you that Metromedia, the parent company for Bennigan's and Ponderosa had filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection and had begun closing company-owned stores. We have recently learned that many franchisee-owned Bennigan's stores and all Ponderosa stores are still open and accepting gift cards.

We have recently learned that Bennigan's has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. At the same time, Bennigan's has been suddenly closing stores across the US.

As a result, we have suspended sales of Bennigan's gift cards until we can learn more. We will advise our customers when we have more information.

Please note...GLSC will be discontinuing the Jack in the Box $15 gift card and will be carrying a new $10 gift card once the $15 denominations are gone.
