Other than the parents, teachers are the most influential people in a child’s life. These instructors shape and mold young minds in ways that can’t always be measured. It’s no wonder then, that the parents show their appreciation with a small gift at the end of the school year. Your scrip program can help parents conveniently and affordably show their appreciation, with scrip gifts that teachers will love.
National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 7-11, 2012. Start planning now for a Teacher Appreciation Day by planning a powerful “Teacher Thank-You” promotion using tips and tools included in this article. With scrip, you can let them know how much they mean to you and your families.
Many of your families already know that teachers love scrip gift cards. A few popular scrip gift ideas are Subway, Starbucks, and Barnes & Noble, just to name a few. Great Lakes Scrip Center has prepared several promotional tools to remind families of this fact, and make it easy for them to thank their teachers with scrip. These guides are designed to print on your organization's printers or photocopiers. Just download them, customize them with your own message, and print.
It's a cost effective way to promote your scrip program and help families show their appreciation with scrip!
- Send your families our “Thanks, Teacher!” Gift Guide. It’s colorful,
it shows our most popular teacher scrip gifts, it’s free, and you can customize
it with your own message. Download it here.
- Have the teacher make a scrip “wish list” – a list of scrip gift cards
that they would like. You can suggest parents pool their money and buy gift cards from
his or her list. Of course, this wouldn’t work if you were planning
for this party to be a surprise! Here’s a sample form you can use.
- Hand make a paper gift certificate for the dollar amount collected from
the students, to be used to order scrip. The teacher can then place her
order for exactly what she wants. We've designed three different "thank you" gift certificates you can use.
It doesn’t matter how you celebrate, or how much money you spend. What matters is that you plan a celebration so that your teachers know how much they are really appreciated and their efforts have not gone unnoticed. If you start planning now, then you will be ready for National Teacher’s Appreciation Week, May 7-11.
Remember your teachers and remember your scrip!
