On November 18, 2009, Penn Traffic Co., the operator of P&C, Quality, and BiLo supermarkets, voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Penn Traffic plans to continue to operate while it prepares for an eventual sale of its stores and other assets.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding the bankruptcy process, Great Lakes Scrip Center recommends that you use any P&C, Quality, or BiLo gift cards as soon as possible. As soon as our inventory is depleted, we will suspend the sale of Penn Traffic gift cards.

In mid-October, Lowe's announced the "Building Up To The Holidays" giveaway, which rewarded three lucky non-profit organizations for their purchases and reloads of Lowe's Gift Cards. The contest winners were selected by a random drawing of all organizations who ordered or reloaded Lowe's Gift Cards, from Great Lakes Scrip Center, between the dates of October 17, 2009, and November 13, 2009. If you're like most GLSC customers, your scrip program volume doubles, triples or even quadruples during the holiday season. That means our holiday volume surges as well, and we are challenged to assemble many more orders with timely delivery and minimal backorders.
Every year we plan and prepare for the surge with extra staff and inventory. Unfortunately, no matter how much staff and hours we add, we simply cannot process your orders, during the holiday season, as quickly as we can the rest of the year.
To help you plan, we've carefully projected our order volume and can guarantee delivery dates based on the calendar below. Please keep in mind these schedules represent the maximum amount of time we may need to turnaround your order during the busiest periods. Whenever possible, we will deliver your orders ahead of this schedule. However, we urge you to plan for the turnaround schedules listed below, and we will do our best to get your orders to you ahead of schedule:
The calendar areas in white will be subject to our normal turnaround schedule - orders placed by 1 pm Eastern Time will be scheduled to leave our offices the following business day. So, on the white dates, an order placed by 1 pm on Monday would be scheduled to leave our offices on Tuesday. If you chose overnight delivery, you would receive your package on Wednesday.
The grey calendar areas are two day turnaround. For example, an order placed before 1 pm Eastern Time on Monday, November 30, will be scheduled to leave our offices no later than Wednesday, for overnight delivery on Thursday, December 3.
Please keep in mind that this schedule is a "worst case" scenario and of course, we will always ship your order ahead of schedule, if possible. But to ensure that you have the scrip you need to keep your programs running smoothly, we would like you to plan ahead and give us (and yourselves) a little extra time this holiday season. In addition, here are some other facts you should keep in mind as you plan your holiday schedule:
- Urge your families to order early - The sooner in the season they order for holiday gift-giving, the better we are able to ensure they will have what they need.
- Order early in the day - Our phone lines and web site can have literally thousands of customers attempting to get in an order just before the 1 pm deadline. Avoid the crowds, and order early in the day.
- Use glscrip.com to order and check order status - GLSC continually adds to our bandwidth so you can order faster, earlier and get the status of your order much easier online than you can by phone.
- Select overnight service for deliveries - During the holiday rush, ground shipment package volume dramatically increases, and delivery times increase, also. Choose overnight delivery to ensure you get your package as quickly as possible, once it is complete.

We will demonstrate how your organization's families can create their own accounts and place online scrip orders. We will also demonstrate how the coordinator will release those family orders on to a Purchase Order and submit their organization order online. This presentation will last approximately 35 minutes, plus time to answer your questions at the end.
We recommend that you use your computer speakers or a plug in headset to listen to the presentation. You will also receive a phone number when you register that you can call to listen to the presentation while viewing the video portion on your computer (unfortunately, it is not a toll free number).

Please be advised that Outback Steakhouse Inc. (OSI) is in the final stages of selling the Cheeseburger In Paradise restaurant chain. Until further notice, OSI will continue to support the gift cards for Cheeseburger. Important Facts You Need To Know About Visa Reward Cards
- Subject to applicable law, beginning 6 months after the date your Rewards Card was purchased by Great Lakes Scrip Center, a monthly service fee of $3.00 will be deducted from your remaining balance.
- To ensure authorized use of your Rewards Card, be sure to sign the back before using.
- Always know the balance of your card and when ready to make your purchase, tell the cashier the amount you would like applied to your Visa Rewards Card. Always press the CREDIT button. If you press DEBIT your transaction will be declined. The balance will then need to be paid with the second payment method.
- If you decide to return merchandise purchased with your Visa Rewards Card, you may be asked to present the same card to process that return. Be sure to hold onto your purchase receipts and your card, even after the balance is depleted.
- When using your Visa Rewards Card somewhere that a tip may be appropriate, your transaction may be authorized for an additional 20% above your total bill. Be sure that the balance on your card is sufficient to cover the cost of the bill plus the tip added. If not, the transaction will be declined.
- Gas stations: You will need to present your card to the attendant inside the station. The Visa card will not work at the pump.
- For online or phone orders, you will need to register your card at www.prepaidrewardscenter.com. When you make an online or phone purchase, the name, address, and phone number you use will need to be exactly the same as the information you provided when registering your card. If the information is different, the transaction may be declined.
- The Visa Rewards Card is not a credit, charge or debit card.
Why It’s Critical To Know Your Gift Card Balance
If you wish to use your Visa Rewards Card to purchase an item for more than the available funds, many national merchants - but not all - will accept your gift card and automatically offer you the opportunity use another form of payment to pay the balance of the final purchase price. This is called a "split tender" transaction because you would be splitting the final transaction amount between your gift card and another form of payment.
If you're not sure of the merchant's policy regarding a "split tender" transaction, it's critical to know the exact balance of your Visa Rewards Card. You can check the amount of funds available on your gift card by visiting www.prepaidrewardscenter.com or calling Visa Prepaid Center toll free within the United States at 1-866-578-0117, which is the telephone number printed on the back of your Visa Rewards Card.
Once you know your balance, you MUST ask the merchant if two forms of payment will be accepted for the purchase you wish to make. If the merchant agrees, first request that the merchant place a specific dollar amount on the other form of payment (e.g., the final transaction amount less the balance of funds available on your Rewards Card), and then use your Rewards Card to pay the remaining balance. Some retailers, particularly department stores, will only allow a "split tender" transaction if the second form of payment is cash or check. Internet and most mail order merchants do not permit "split tender" transactions. We do not guarantee that the merchant will accept two forms of payment, such as two gift cards.

Important Facts You Need To Know About Visa Reward Cards
- Subject to applicable law, beginning 6 months after the date your Rewards Card was purchased by Great Lakes Scrip Center, a monthly service fee of $3.00 will be deducted from your remaining balance.
- To ensure authorized use of your Rewards Card, be sure to sign the back before using.
- Always know the balance of your card and when ready to make your purchase, tell the cashier the amount you would like applied to your Visa Rewards Card. Always press the CREDIT button. If you press DEBIT your transaction will be declined. The balance will then need to be paid with the second payment method.
- If you decide to return merchandise purchased with your Visa Rewards Card, you may be asked to present the same card to process that return. Be sure to hold onto your purchase receipts and your card, even after the balance is depleted.
- When using your Visa Rewards Card somewhere that a tip may be appropriate, your transaction may be authorized for an additional 20% above your total bill. Be sure that the balance on your card is sufficient to cover the cost of the bill plus the tip added. If not, the transaction will be declined.
- Gas stations: You will need to present your card to the attendant inside the station. The Visa card will not work at the pump.
- For online or phone orders, you will need to register your card at www.prepaidrewardscenter.com. When you make an online or phone purchase, the name, address, and phone number you use will need to be exactly the same as the information you provided when registering your card. If the information is different, the transaction may be declined.
- The Visa Rewards Card is not a credit, charge or debit card.
Why It’s Critical To Know Your Gift Card Balance
If you wish to use your Visa Rewards Card to purchase an item for more than the available funds, many national merchants - but not all - will accept your gift card and automatically offer you the opportunity use another form of payment to pay the balance of the final purchase price. This is called a "split tender" transaction because you would be splitting the final transaction amount between your gift card and another form of payment.
If you're not sure of the merchant's policy regarding a "split tender" transaction, it's critical to know the exact balance of your Visa Rewards Card. You can check the amount of funds available on your gift card by visiting www.prepaidrewardscenter.com or calling Visa Prepaid Center toll free within the United States at 1-866-578-0117, which is the telephone number printed on the back of your Visa Rewards Card.
Once you know your balance, you MUST ask the merchant if two forms of payment will be accepted for the purchase you wish to make. If the merchant agrees, first request that the merchant place a specific dollar amount on the other form of payment (e.g., the final transaction amount less the balance of funds available on your Rewards Card), and then use your Rewards Card to pay the remaining balance. Some retailers, particularly department stores, will only allow a "split tender" transaction if the second form of payment is cash or check. Internet and most mail order merchants do not permit "split tender" transactions. We do not guarantee that the merchant will accept two forms of payment, such as two gift cards.

On June 17, 2009, Eddie Bauer filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. The company has received court approval to maintain operations and to continue to honor gift cards while in bankruptcy. In conjunction with the bankruptcy filing, Eddie Bauer entered into an agreement to sell the firm's assets to CCMP Capital Advisors. CCMP intends to continue to operate Eddie Bauer and to keep the majority of stores open. However, the sale of Eddie Bauer is subject to bankruptcy court approval and an auction process, which is expected to be completed in 60 days or less. Eddie Bauer has been a long time supporter of scrip fundraising, and we hope they are able to successfully emerge from bankruptcy.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding the auction process, Great Lakes Scrip Center recommends that you advise your families to use any Eddie Bauer gift cards as soon as possible. As soon as our supplies are depleted, we will suspend the sale of their gift cards until the sale is completed. Great Lakes Scrip Center will not accept returns of Eddie Bauer gift cards.
